YALC & LFCC 2019 Round Up

Kirk is a Jerk CosplayYALC has come and gone once again! I had the foresight to book both Saturday and Sunday for enough time to visit both London Film and Comic Con (LFCC) and the Young Adult Literature Convention (YALC).

I cosplayed again (of course!) and it was Star Trek related (of course!) while Matt went as Cecil from Welcome to Night Vale. Matt and I just finished watching Star Trek: The Animated Series and the Kirk is a Jerk scene made me literally LOL so I figured that was worthy of a cosplay. I put it together the night before and there were definitely some staples holding it together, whoops.

Kirk is a Jerk

We spent saturday going from talk to talk: Jason Isaacs, Michael Shanks, Star Trek talk (Walter Koenig, Robert Picardo, Nicole de Boer, Shazad Latif) and lurked nonchalantly  by Michael Shanks and Joe Flanigan’s autograph table. I’m sure we were not at all obvious.

Apart from the Joe Flanigan Q&A, Sunday was mainly the YALC day. I noticed there weren’t as many chapter samplers available as last year, which was probably a good thing for me as I tried not to accumulate too much this year (I somehow restrained myself!)

At the Usborne stand, I bought Extinction Trials: Rebel by  SM Wilson (because dinosaurs) and SLAY by Kim Curran (because boy band killing demons). William Hussey, author of Hideous Beauty, signed my sampler and was a pleasure to talk to for a few minutes.

And I also won an Infinity Son ARC by Adam Silvera!

Sat around with my fellow Crone Blogger Jenn in the very uncomfortable Chill Out Zone (would it kill them to bring out some chairs?). At least we had a great view of all the celebrities walking by!

I FINALLY met Justine after we constantly missed each other the past couple years. Except we were so excited that we forgot to take a photo. Next time!

My YALC haul is pretty modest compared to others but I’m okay with that. I’m very happy with it! Also, I bought an amazing purse which is a repurposed Independence Day tape and you all need to see it.

Have a look at my YALC experience last year (I met Tomi Adeyemi in an elevator!)
