5 Most Anticipated Reads: August to December

2016 has been a fantastic book year so far. We’ve fought the Silver army, we got the crown, we traveled through time, and we survived the harsh desert. But, we still have more adventures to experience.

Here are the five books I try (and fail) not to think about otherwise I get super impatient and then seriously contemplate how I can find myself a flux capacitor and DeLoreon to get my hands on them early.

A Torch Against the Night - Sabaa Tahir

A Torch Against the Night – Sabaa Tahir
August 30 (US), September 8 (UK)

I absolutely loved An Ember in the Ashes! One of the best books I’ve read in quite a while. Sabaa Tahir has such a natural way of writing and her characters are so wonderfully fleshed out. I cannot wait until release day for this sequel!

Heartless - Marissa MeyerHeartless – Marissa Meyer
November 8

I fell in love with Marissa Meyer’s Lunar Chronicles last year and I’ve been suffering from Meyer withdrawal ever since! An origin story for the Queen of Hearts, this one is sure to keep me up late, desperate to finish the next chapter.

Crooked Kingdom - Leigh BardugoCrooked Kingdom – Leigh Bardugo
September 27

Confession: I haven’t read Six of Crows yet. However, the fact that Crooked Kingdom is on my list is just how confident I am that I will love this duology. Deadly heist stories are totally my thing and I’m looking forward to marathoning the two books back-to-back.

Crosstalk - Connie WillisCrosstalk – Connie Willis
September 15 (UK), October 4 (US)

I love Connie Willis. A lot. I’ve been waiting for a new book from her since the dawn of time (slight exaggeration). While this one isn’t part of her Oxford time travel universe, it’s sure to be good if it’s anything like her other standalone novels. It’s been six years since her last book. Six. Years.

Stealing Snow - Danielle PaigeStealing Snow – Danielle Paige
September 20 (US), October 6 (UK)

A retelling of The Snow Queen! This will be my first Danielle Paige novel (don’t worry, Dorothy Must Die is on my to-read list!) I think I’ve developed a soft spot for fairy tale retellings so I can’t wait to start this.

  1. I’ve never heard of Crosstalk, I guess I’ll have to check it out. I had a problem with Danielle Paige’s other books, so I don’t plan on reading Stealing Snow, but I’m looking forward to the other three on your list!

    1. I totally recommend anything by Connie Willis, she’s amazing!

I haven’t read Danielle Paige’s other books, but I got an ARC of Stealing Snow through Net Galley and I’m really enjoying it so far 🙂

  2. YES, I’m so excited for the ‘Heartless’ release! I’ve had such a Lunar Chronicles spaced hole in my heart since finishing the series, which I’m hoping a new Marissa Meyer book might help to fill. :’)

    1. YES! I think we all have Lunar withdrawals haha. It was just SO well done; I wasn’t expecting to love her writing as much as I did.

I’m so intrigued by her upcoming superhero series, too! (I think 2018?)
